Common Risk & Safety Framework (CRASF)

The domestic and family violence common risk and safety framework (the CRASF) is a whole-of-system framework that guides the delivery of integrated service responses to enhance the safety of victim-survivors and their children, and to hold perpetrators to account. It articulates a shared understanding, language, and common approach to recognising, assessing and responding to DFV, and offers guidance on best-practice approaches.

IFYS DFV Coordination are partnering with Office For Women and Violence Prevention, University of the Sunshine Coast and Domestic Violence Action Centre (DVAC) to deliver training in the CRASF to Sunshine Coast service providers.

This forum will be an interactive, face-to-face session, on how the revised CRASF can be used to enhance integrated service responses to domestic and family violence. This session will cover CRASF principles, risk assessment and safety planning, understanding the Integrated Service System, and information sharing.

The session is designed for mainstream services that may encounter people impacted by domestic and family violence as well as specialist domestic and family violence services.

A digital copy of the CRASF can be downloaded here.

Centacare Family and Relationship Service oversees a number of DFV programs on the Sunshine Coast, including the Sunshine Coast Regional Domestic and Family Violence Service (SCRDFVS), PRADO and SFVS programs. Referrals can be made (with consent) by service providers and directly from women who are at risk of, or experiencing, domestic violence. Clients referred into the SCRDFVS will undertake an initial intake appointment where risk assessment and safety planning will occur. Ongoing support for up to six sessions can be provided in the form of counselling, psychoeducation, safety upgrades, DVO assistance and referrals into group programs. SCRDFVS court support practitioners provide information, advice and referral support on all Caloundra, Maroochydore and Noosa DFV court sitting days. Local service providers can also refer families at high/imminent risk of harm from DFV to the Sunshine Coast DVCAM (members include QPS, Corrections, Child Safety, Health, Housing and other NGO stakeholders) which are meetings held on a weekly basis, forming part of a local domestic and family violence integrated response.
